Every donation to Nhanya Foundation goes directly towards supporting women, children, young people and people with disability facing hardship in Melbourne's west. If you've considered donating but want to understand exactly where that money goes, whether it's tax-deductible, and how safe the process is, here's a clear rundown.
What your donation actually funds
Donations support four broad areas of Nhanya's work. Housing and family support covers accommodation pathways, tenancy help and safe spaces for women, children and families facing hardship or instability. Allied health and disability support funds occupational therapy, psychology, physiotherapy and behaviour support for people with disability. Youth and life programs covers school holiday programs, outreach and skill-building workshops for children, young people and adults. And community and advocacy work funds culturally responsive support, advocacy and pathways to work and community participation. Rather than disappearing into general overheads, your gift is directed toward these practical, ongoing programs.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. Nhanya Foundation Ltd (ABN 42 690 605 102) is a registered Australian charity, Public Benevolent Institution, and endorsed Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR Item 1). Gifts of $2 or more made in Australia are tax-deductible, and a receipt is emailed automatically once your donation is processed, so there's nothing extra you need to keep track of at tax time.
Is it safe to donate online?
Donations are processed securely through Stripe, a PCI-compliant payment provider used by charities and businesses worldwide. Nhanya Foundation never sees or stores your card details directly, so your payment information stays with a dedicated, secure processor rather than passing through our own systems.
Why donations matter for a charity this size
As a registered charity working directly with people experiencing hardship, Nhanya relies on a combination of donations, referrals and volunteer support to keep programs running. Unlike a large institution with significant reserves, a gift of any size has a proportionally real impact on what the team can deliver week to week, whether that's an accommodation pathway for a family, an allied health session, or a school holiday program place for a young person who'd otherwise miss out.
How to donate
Donating takes a couple of minutes. Head to Nhanya's Donate page and select "Donate Now" to be taken to a secure Stripe checkout, where you can choose your own gift amount. There's no account to create and no ongoing commitment required, a one-off gift is just as welcome as a recurring one. Once it's processed, your emailed receipt arrives automatically, so you have a record for tax time without needing to follow up.
Questions about your donation
If you have a question about a receipt, a past donation, or how a specific gift was used, Nhanya's team is reachable directly at hello@nhanya.org.au or on 03 8595 9012. Transparency about where donations go matters just as much as the giving itself, and the team is happy to talk through it.
Other ways to support Nhanya's work
If donating isn't the right option for you right now, there are other ways to help. You can volunteer your time across program support, community outings or administration, or refer someone who needs support to get in touch with our team.
