Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about starting Occupational Therapy with Nhanya Foundation.

What is the difference between Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy? +
Occupational Therapy focuses on helping you perform everyday activities and meaningful tasks (such as dressing, cooking, working, learning, and socializing), while Physiotherapy primarily focuses on gross physical mobility, muscle strength, joint function, and pain management. Both disciplines often work together collaboratively.
How long does a Functional Capacity Assessment take? +
A comprehensive FCA generally involves 2 to 4 hours of direct clinical consultation, observation, and standardized assessments, followed by detailed scoring, analysis, and report writing. Completed reports are typically finalized within 2 to 3 weeks of the final session.
Can therapy sessions take place at home or school? +
Yes. Depending on your goals, our therapists can conduct sessions in our Melbourne therapy clinic, in your home environment, at school or daycare, or within the local community where practical skills are applied.
How do I make a referral for Occupational Therapy? +
You can submit an online referral directly through our Referral Form, or contact our clinical intake team by phone at 03 8595 9012 or email at hello@nhanya.org.au.
